报告摘要:  

The dissipative Kerr solitons offer broadband coherent and low-noise frequency combs and stable temporal pulse trains, having shown great potential applications in spectroscopy, communications, and metrology. Here, we have demonstrated the dissipative Kerr soliton generation in a microrod resonator or silicon nitride (Si3N4) microrings, by utilizing an auxiliary-laser assisted thermal response control. This instability is the main obstacle for future applications. By applying a modulated signal to the pump laser, the breathing frequency (repetition rate) can be injection locked to the modulation frequency and tuned over tens of MHz (kHz) with frequency noise significantly suppressed. In addition, a universal mechanism for fully stabilizing the microcomb is proposed and experimentally verified. The high stability and controllability of the microcomb frequency enables its application in wavelength measurement with a precision of about 1 kHz. Our demonstration offers an alternative knob for the control of soliton dynamics in microresonators and paves a new avenue towards practical applications of solitons.

董春华,中国科学技术大学教授,博士生导师。2006年和2011年分别获中国科学技术大学学士和博士学位;2011年至2013年美国俄勒冈大学博士后;2013年加入中国科学技术大学物理学院工作。共发表SCI 论文100余篇,其中第一/通讯作者论文60 余篇,包括ScienceNature子刊、Physical Review Letters等,他引3300余次,h因子30。获得基金委优秀青年基金资助(2017);入选教育部“**奖励计划”青年学者(2020)、荣获中国科学院优秀博士生导师;担任国际学术刊物《Photonics Research》编委。
