报告摘要:
For more than 150 years, Nature and the journals of Nature Portfolio have reported the stories behindsome of the most important scientific breakthroughs. At the heart of every "great" paper, beyond thediscovery itself, lies good storytelling. A compelling narrative sets the scene, frames the problem, presentsevidence, and guides the reader to understand the main result and why it matters in a way that is effective, scientifically precise, detailed, and engaging. There is no secret formula, only the Nature formula based on experience. It is a skill, a disciplined way ofshaping knowledge so that complex ideas become clear, persuasive, and lastingBut storytelling carries responsibility. In a world of intense competition, fast publication, and powerfulnew tools, the line between persuasion and distortion can easily be crossed. Transparency, reproducibilityesearch integrity, and ethics are central to the scientific process. In this talk, I will share what editors atNature Portfolio have learned about crafting scientific stories that are both captivating and trustworthyAnd together, we will explore how the global research community including publishers, institutionsfunding agencies, governments, editors, and researchers, can ensure that the scientific stories we write andpublish are not just fascinating, but grounded in rigor, transparency, and reproducible evidence.
